Mumbai: On the eve of Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s 67th birthday, forty actors paid glorious tribute to the superstar of the millennium by dressing up popular characters portrayed by Big B in his illustrious career spanning more than four decades.
Just hours before Amitabh turned 67, producers of his upcoming flick ‘Rann’, Madhu Matena and Sheetal Talwar invited Amitabh Bachchan to a theatre for a promotional event. However, in actuality, the event was organised to celebrate the veteran actor’s successful forty years in Hindi cinema.
During this memorable event, forty of Big B’s fans, who are also actors, dressed up as Amitabh Bachchan’s famous on-screen characters and also mouthed some of the famous dialogues from his films.
While talking to a news daily, co-producer Talwar said, “Mr Bachchan’s 40-year-old journey in Hindi cinema is exceptional in every sense. He started his career with ‘Saat Hindustani’ in 1969 and that’s where our staged homage begins.”
The clone tribute saw characters from Big B’s landmark flicks like ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Deewaar’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Sholay’, ‘Black’, ‘Sarkar’ etc.
Incidentally, getting forty actors on board was a cakewalk for Talwar, “It wasn't difficult at all. All we did is spread the word about us planning a clones’ tribute to the superstar for his birthday. We were flooded with requests from dozens of artistes who wanted to play the characters in front of Mr Bachchan. We sifted through the legion of applicants to shortlist the ones who fitted the bill.”
The homage was a big surprise for Mr Bachchan as “Mr Bachchan thought we’re inviting him to an event related to ‘Rann’. He didn’t know about the homage,” said a joyful Sheetal.
Wishing you a very happy birthday Amitabh Bachchan!
