Kambli plans new innings with Third Front

Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli on Thursday filed his nomination to contest the upcoming assembly polls in Maharashtra.

Mumbai: Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli on Thursday filed his nomination to contest the upcoming assembly polls in Maharashtra. Kambli will contest from the Vikhroli seat in Mumbai on a Third Front ticket. The 37-year old, who has represented India in 17 Tests and 104 ODIs, is a member of Lok Bharti Party. Kambli announced his decision to contest the elections at a Third Front rally a few days ago in Shivaji Park in front of a crowd of 50000 people. The rally also had a number of politicians including actor Sanjay Dutt. Addressing the rally, Kambli said: "This is the same ground where I practiced day and night to get an entry into the Indian cricket team. Now, I am launching my political career from here and will definitely hit fours and sixes in the field of politics.” Kambli was recently in news for his comments on Sachin Tendulkar during a reality game show.
