English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur are to sponsor an Indian children`s football team in a unique global competition for slum children in Italy later this month.

Hotspur are to sponsor an Indian children`s football team in a
unique global competition for slum children in Italy later
this month.
The Spurs, in partnership with social welfare
organisation Krida Vikas Sanstha, Nagpur (KSVN), would help a
team of disadvantaged boys and girls take part in the
"Homeless World Cup" in Milan from September 6-13, a media
release said today.
KSVN runs football programmes in Maharashtra to inspire
and educate the most disadvantaged members of society,
including the homeless and slum dwellers, many of whom were
addicted to drugs or alcohol and involved in petty crimes or
violence, the release added.
