Qualifier Anshu in pre-quarters of National Junior Tennis

For the second day running, overnight rains played havoc and commencement of matches in seven venues were delayed by over two hours. Most of the day`s matches were confined to Krishnan Tennis Centre till late in the afternoon due to unplayable conditions of the courts.In important matches of the day, ninth seed Srikar Alla of Andhra Pradesh was scalped by unseeded Ramkumar Ramananthan 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-3. In boys section, Anshu put paid to the aspirations of Kunal Anand with a clinical 6-3, 6-4 win, while Tushar Mandlekar fought gallantly before going down against Atul Sri Patel of Uttar Pradesh, who won the tie 7-5, 4-6, 7-5. In the girls under-18, Tamil Nadu’s Sanjana M.Kumar got the better of wild card entrant Namita Bal, daughter of Indian coach Nandan Bal, 7-6 (4) and 6-4. Bureau Report
