Kolkata, July 08: As Sourav Ganguly celebrates his 37th birthday on Wednesday, the former Indian skipper is all set to start a new innings, only this time it’s off the field. According to reports, Ganguly is being projected as a candidate for the president’s post in the Cricket Association of Bengal; that would see him slug it out for the top post against one time mentor Jagmohan Dalmiya. Reports also suggest that the Prince of Kolkata, as he is popularly known, could be the East Zone’s candidate for the post of BCCI president in 2014.When contacted, Sourav did not deny the reports. "I am convinced that I can play a positive role. Having played the game at the highest level and being part of the system, I know what it takes to make a difference," he told a leading newspaper. "At some point, I will find a way to get into the CAB where people have known me since I was a kid. I have respect for them and I am sure they will appreciate my concern for Bengal cricket and the difference I can make. I am in no hurry," he added.
