Lucknow, July 04: With two units each of Anpara and Parichha thermal plants closing down due to technical snag, power crisis deepened in the Uttar Pradesh, official sources said.

"Two units of 210 mega watt each closed down at Anpara thermal station due to technical snag last evening. Two units of Parichha are already closed down due to coal feeding problem," they said.

Following closure of four units total generation by thermal stations of the state had declined to around 2,000 MW, which was around 600 MW less than the normal generation, sources said.

In addition to this only 500 MW power is being generated by hydro-projects in the state.

While peak hour demand of power in the state had increased to around 9,000 MW against which around 7,000 MW is available which includes over 4,400 MW import from central sector and other sources.

"To control the situation rostering of around 2,000 MW was imposed during peak hours," sources said.

The Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam has undertaken an exercise on war footing to restart the closed unit at Anpara and Parichha.

"These units are likely to start generation by late evening today," sources said.

Meanwhile, senior officials have rushed to Parichha thermal station to sort out coal feeding problem.
