Kishtwar (JK), July 03: Militants in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday killed a former ultra and injured his uncle and kidnapped a villager in Tander-Dachhan area, 290 km from Jammu, official sources said.

A group of 3-4 armed militants came to the shop of Tariq Hussain, the uncle of surrendered Hizbul Mujahideen militant Abdul Majid Ganoo in Tander-Dachhan early this morning and beat them up severely after an argument, official sources said.

The militants then opened indiscriminate fire killing their surrendered associate on the spot and injuring his uncle, they said.

Ganoo had surrendered before Rashtriya Rifles troops at Dachhan in the same district on February 5, 2008.

Locals, who went to the shop after hearing gunshots, shifted both of them to the Primary Health Centre at Sundar, from where Hussain was airlifted to Jammu for treatment, they said, adding his condition was stated to be critical.

The same militants had also kidnapped 26-year-old Nazir Ahmed Genoo, son of former Vice-Sarpach of Tander, last evening.

Police said a search has been launched to rescue the kidnapped youth and track down the militants.
