Islamabad, July 02: Congress president Sonia Gandhi has thanked former Pakistan premier and PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain for his congratulatory message on her party's recent victory in the general elections.

In her letter to Hussain, Gandhi said, "Our party and government remain committed to strengthening people-to-people contacts and bilateral cooperation between our two countries".

Gandhi also recalled her meeting with Hussain in 2005, when he led a PML-Q delegation to India.
