Bhopal, July 02: Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh in a letter to Union Rural Development Minister C P Joshi demanded sanction of funds for the construction of rural roads in 150 villages of Rajgarh constituency in the state.

Singh, AICC general secretary, who belongs to Rajgarh district demanded funds for connecting 150 villages of the district under the 'Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna'.

The proposal for constructing 86 roads worth Rs 123.45 crore is pending with the Ministry for its approval, an official release quoting his letter said today.

Singh also requested the Minister to sanction funds for the development of roads in Guna and Shajapur districts of Madhya Pradesh.

He has also written a letter to the Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Kamal Nath to approve schemes for converting Gwalior-Dewas National Highway into four lane and high level bridges in the area, it said.

Singh also asked to convert NH-12 passing through the area into two-lanes.

The former MP chief minister also written a letter to state PWD Minister Nagendra Singh to send proposals of Rajgarh district and adjoining areas for getting funds under the Central Road Fund, it added.
