Mumbai, July 02: Congress corporator Deepak Mankar was on Thursday arrested by Pune crime branch in a land grab case.
The case pertains to grabbing of land belonging to a
co-operative bank in Pune registered with Vishrambag police
station there, sources said.
Mankar will be taken to Pune and will be produced in
court there tomorrow.
Mankar has filed anticipatory bail application in High
Court in connection with another case. Police had started
probing allegations that he threatened Yashwant Natu, a
retired college professor, and pressurised him to sell their
family property in Pune.
Justice D B Bhosale of the High Court today said that he
won't hear the application and allowed Mankar to move another
judge.
But as Mankar stepped out of the court, Pune police
arrested him.
