Malda (WB), July 02: No anti-India militant activity would be allowed on Bangladeshi soil, the Bangladesh Rifles Director-General (BDR-DG), Mohammad Mainul Islam, said today.

The present government shares good relations with India and the Sheikh Hasina regime wants to make it better, Islam told reporters after a two-hour-long meeting with the BSF's Murshidabad sector DIG, Dilbar Singh Sidhu, at Mahadipur BSF camp in the district.

"Allegations of anti-India activities from Bangladesh had been made earlier. In future, no militant activity will be allowed on Bangladeshi soil," Islam said categorically.

The BDR-DG said that a home secretary level meeting would be held between India and Bangladesh between July 11 and 14 in Dhaka and that the DGs of both the country's border guards would be present in that meeting.

Problems related to the two countries' rivers, trade and border would be discussed in the meeting, he said while pointing out that small border problems should be sorted out locally.
