Bhubaneswar, Jan 11: Amid speculations over changing
Indo-Pak equations following the Mumbai terror attack, Air
Chief Marshal F H Major on Sunday said the forces were "always
prepared" to meet any eventuality.
"We are always prepared to meet any situation," Air Chief
Marshal Major said at a special function held in Sainik school
here to felicitate six of its former students who are now
holding top positions in defence forces.
Seeking to parry a question on the possiblity of armed
conflict between India and Pakistan, he said, "It is for the
government to take a decision."
Describing the enhanced pay-scales in the defence forces
as "quite attractive" at present, the Air Force chief asked
youths to join the armed forces.
He said Sainik schools in the country, including the one
in Bhubaneswar, have been acting as stepping stones to a
promising career in the defence forces for many aspirants.
Asking the state government to raise scholarship amounts
provided to Sainik school students, he said, "It will motivate
people to seek a career in defence services."
Those present at the function witnessed a wide range of
colourful shows including para-gliding.
