Scheme to give an honorarium to Arjuna awardees

Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda has approved the scheme to give an honorarium of Rs.5000 per month to all eligible Arjuna Awardees, Dronacharya Awardees and Bhim Awardees.

Chandigarh, Jan 08: Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda has approved the scheme to give an honorarium of Rs.5000 per month to all eligible Arjuna Awardees, Dronacharya Awardees and Bhim Awardees in the State in recognition of their significant achievements.The Chief Minister said here today that there were 49 Arjuna Awardees, four Daroncharya Awardees and 82 Bhim Awardees in
the State and this honorarium would be given irrespective of their being in a job or having other source of earning or not. Three unemployed Olympians were already being given pension at a rate of Rs 2000 per month. Haryana Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Kiran Choudhry said that the Chief Minister had announced to give such an honorarium at Bhiwani on August 30, 2008. She said that the State Government has already given many incentives and implementing various schemes for promotion of Sports. She said that there were some players who were the recipients of both Bhim Award and Arjuna Award, but they would be eligible to get honorarium for only one of the Awards. Kiran Choudhry said that the 49 Arjuna Awardees of the State included Udey Chand- Wrestling, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi- Cricket, Bhim Singh- Athletics, Khushi Ram- Basketball, Master Chandgi Ram- Wrestling, Balwant Singh- Volleyball, Jagroop Singh- Wrestling, Mehtab Singh- Boxing, M.S. Rana- Swimming, Bahadur Singh- Athletics, Geeta Zutshi- Athletics, Rajender Singh- Wrestling, Kapil Dev- Cricket, Om Parkash- Basketball, Sabar Ali- Athletics. Chand Ram- Athletics, Kirpal Patil- Gymnastics, Ajmer Singh- Basketball, Suresh Yadav- Athletics, Sunita Sharma- Gymnastics, Satyawan- Wrestling, Dalel Singh- Volleyball, Ashok Kumar- Wrestling, R.S. Bhanwala- Rowing, Shakti Singh- Athletics, Raj Kumar- Boxing, Sanjay Kumar- Wrestling, Ashan Kumar- Kabaddi, Narender Kumar- Judo, Rohtash Dahiya- Wrestling, Anju Dua- Gymnastics, Neelam J. Singh- Athletics, Jitender Kumar- Boxing, Vivek Singh- Shooting, Amir Singh- Volleyball. Ramesh Kumar-Wrestling, Mamta Kharab- Hockey, Ram Mehar Singh- Kabaddi, Sujeet Mann- Wrestling, Inderpal Singh- Rowing, Maj.
