Extent of petro, diesel price cut disappointing: BJP
Updated on Friday, December 05, 2008, 00:00 IST
New Delhi, Dec 05: The main opposition BJP on Friday called the quantum of petroleum price cut by the government to be "disappointing for the common man”.

"It is a disappointing decision for the common man. The global prices of crude oil have come down from USD 147 to USD 43.5 a barrel, which is down to more than one-third. The present cut is less than 10 percent in petrol and around five percent for diesel. The prices of petrol and diesel should have been reduced correspondingly to the international crude oil prices," party General Secretary Arun Jaitley said.

The huge burden on the consumer still remains and the government needs to be more considerate to the common man, he added.
