Delhi's doctor under scanner denies links with Pandey

Delhi, Nov 22: A leading Delhi-based doctor, Dr RP Singh, who has come on Maharashtra Anti-Terror Squad’s (ATS) radar in the Malegaon blast probe, on Saturday denied his links with spiritual guru Dayanand Pandey, an accused in the September 29 blast case.

Speaking to Zee News, Dr Singh – who is believed to have served as Pandey’s advisor – refuted any links with Pandey and also rubbished reports of any conspiracy to kill RSS leaders. Reports had earlier claimed that senior RSS brass was on the hitlist of Abhinav Bharat, a Hindutva organisation believed to have been involved in the Malegaon blast and whose founder members include Lt Col Shrikant Purohit, the prime accused in the case.

According to ATS sources, investigations revealed that Purohit and Pandey, the self-anointed Shankaracharya, allegedly conspired with another veteran ultra-Hindutva leader from Pune, Shyam Apte, to kill two top RSS functionaries – general secretary Mohan Bhagwat and senior leader Indresh – for not being ‘hard’ on Muslims.

The revelation had sent shock waves across the pro-Hindutva lobby including the Bhartiya Janata Party, which has so far vociferously supported all those who have come under the scanner in relation with the Malegaon blast case.

The plot was unravelled after data from Pandey’s laptop was retrieved by ATS following detailed forensic examination.
