Mumbai, Sept 19: Another hatke film, ‘Saas Bahu Aur Sensex’, set against the backdrop of sensex, where women are seen taking on the bull, released all over this Friday. Director Shona Urvashi seemed to have interestingly combined her daily dose of TV soaps and an updated stock market understanding in the flick.
There's undoubtedly a lot to be explored when it comes to both, the saas-bahu soaps and the stock market. And Shona has somewhat managed to gain the maximum out of the numerous angles that the subject could have offered. And as the title suggests, the film promises to be a spoof on endless, wretched and melodramatic ‘saas-bahu’ serials.
‘Saas Bahu aur Sensex’ is about kitty party housewives who turn into professional stock investors from saas-bahu serial fanatics. The film tries to show the Indian economy in a positive light, and encourages the people to invest in stocks for the development of the nation. The story lays emphasises on the two most favourite pastimes that people have in India are-the saas-bahu shows and the sensex status.
Treated with a light feel-good touch, the film opens with mother-daughter duo shifting to a new housing society in Mumbai. The mother Binita Sen (Kirron Kher) is a divorcee and the daughter Nitya (Tanushree Dutta) is an ambitious young woman aiming to get MBA degree from some foreign university but ending up in a call centre. Boy-next-door Ritesh, who is in love with another society girl Kirti (Masumeh), helps Nitya get a job. This leads to a love triangle.
Meanwhile, Binita in an attempt to sell some shares, meets a rude but sensitive stock broker Feroz Sethna (Farooq Sheikh), who guides her into proper investing. Soon, her entire gang is seen investing in the stocks. Ritesh’s romance is on the go against the stock market backdrop, but all those booty fans who were looking forward to some hot scenes in the flick, thanks to the presence of bombshell Tanushree Dutta, will be hugely disappointed as Tanu has little to do what she knows best.
As things stand now, ‘Saas Bahu Aur Sensex’ is fairly enjoyable in bits and parts, with stock market fluctuations, kitty parties, soap operas and the changing equations amongst the youth as the basis of the story.
Both Farouque Sheikh and Kirron Kher have pitched incredible performances. Kirron Kher looks extremely stunning and graceful. Out of all the entertaining housewives, Lilette Dubey, Sharon Prabhakar and Shehnaz Anand are enthralling.
Overall, ‘Saas Bahu Aur Sensex’ is an interesting business at the Box Office.
