New Delhi, July 12: After 50 days in jail and the accompanying trauma of being accused of murdering his own daughter, Dr Rajesh Talwar, father of Aarushi, finally walked free on Saturday morning. His release came after he got bail following CBI’s assertion that they had no evidence against Dr Rajesh Talwar and the double murders (Aarushi, Hemraj) were carried out by Krishna (Talwar’s compunder), Rajkumar (domestic help of Durrani’s) and another person named Vijay Mandal.

Dr Talwar was released from the Dasna jail in Gaziabad in the presence of a huge media contingent. His immediate family including his brother and his wife Nupur were present at that time.

Talwar has been released on a surety of Rs 10 lakhs. Heaving a sigh of relief, an emotional Nupur Talwar, mother of Aarushi said that God finally answered their fervent prayers.

Expressing her gratitude to the CBI over the clean chit given by it, Nupur Talwar said "Rajesh is innocent. Everyday I prayed for the truth to be revealed."

"I am really grateful and indebted to the CBI for carrying out the investigation in such a professional manner and letting the world know the truth."

The court has meanwhile remanded Rajesh Talwar's compounder Krishna and Durranis’ domestic help Rajkumar to 14 days judicial custody.

However, CBI made it clear that all revelations were based on the narco-analysis and lie detector test and the agency still has to find corroborative evidence to nail the guilty.

Meanwhile, CBI has arrested the third accused Vijay Mandal and has produced him in the court.

Recreating the crime scene

Regarding the reasons behind the CBI’s belief that the servants were involved, Arun Kumar said that the investigation into the crime scene revealed that the entry to the house was friendly, thereby pointing to the involvement of Hemraj.

He further said that Rajkumar and Krishna have during their narco-analysis confessed to their involvement in the crime. He also revealed that Krishna had been badly scolded by Dr Talwar two days before the crime. Krishna confessed after the second scientific test, calling the murder as a case of honour killing.

Recreating the crime scene, Arun Kumar said, “Krishna and Rajkumar along with Vijay Mandal went to the Talwar residence at night and was let in by Hemraj. They consumed alcohol and then entered Aarushi’s room with the intention of sexually abusing her."

After she raised hue and cry, she was gagged and hit on the head with a blunt instrument. When Hemraj panicked, they ran to the terrace where they had an altercation which finally led to Hemraj being killed with a cooler’s water pump. The accused then returned to Aarushi’s room and killed her to cover up their tracks. The CBI official however added that there were no traces of sperm in Aarushi's swabs.

About why the parents heard no commotion, Arun Kumar said that Aarushi had a throat infection and possibly couldn’t yell out loud. Also, two ACs were on and perhaps their noise drowned the screams.

Divulging the details, Kumar said that Dr Talwar’s first polygraphic test was inconclusive and in the second no deception was found. Moreover, the CBI had recreated the crime scene and had found the claim of the Talwars that they did not hear any commotion on the night when Aarushi was murdered as correct.

Moreover, the psychoanalysis test of the Talwars was also pointing to the possibility that they were not involved.

I seriously doubt whether this case will come to an end. Why cant this be solved like any other murder cases. Why so much of importance is given to this case. Is it because a 14 year old girl is involved. If its thought that way, then there are so many discriminations against women & other people. Hardly 5% of them are covered in the news papers.Heavy pressure from the media will create problems for the ones handling the case.More than the case, the CBI will be thinking how to handle the media. I am not against Zee news or anybody. I have always loved the way Zee news has handled things. But i think this time, it was a bit too much. - Sanish - In Dubai a
