Marathoners may run over Mumbai`s Bandra-Worli sea link

Mumbai, April 11: The long-delayed Bandra-Worli sea link on the western side of the metropolis might see the
world's top long distance runners racing on it during next January's Mumbai Marathon.Maharashtra's public works minister Anil Deshmukh extended an invitation to the marathon organisers last night to use the link. "The Bandra-Worli sea link is expected to be completed by December (this year). I would like the Mumbai Marathon runners to run over this bridge when it takes place next," said Deshmukh, bringing a smile on the face of marathon organising chief Anil Singh of Procam International. Deshmukh extended the invitation after the organisers announced that this year's Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon race had generated rs 6.75 crore towards charity with the 59 dream teams raising rs 2.03 crore. "The final total should be rs 8 crore because a lot of small organisations would have raised funds through the event (held on January 20) directly," the organisers said. Bureau Report
