Colombo, March 24: The Colombo High Court on Monday
issued production warrants against LTTE supremo V Prabhakaran and the outfit's intelligence chief Pottu Amman in former Sri Lankan Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar assassination case.
"The Colombo High Court has reissued production
warrants through Inspector General of Police Victor Perera for
the arrest of Prabhakaran and others," an official said.
Earlier this month, Prabhakaran and five others were
indicted by the Colombo High Court in connection with the
killing of Kadirgamar.
Kadirgamar, a Tamil Minister, was assassinated in a
sniper attack at his residence in Colombo as he was entering
his premises after a swim on August 12, 2005.
The Attorney General had filed the case against
Velupillai Prabhakaran, Pottu Amman alias Shiva Shankar,
Charles alias Charlis Master, Komadee Manimekala alias Madee,
Muttaiyah Sahadevan and Isithor Arokyanathan alias Babu for
conspiring with another LTTE member Vinothan to assassinate
Kadirgamar and committing the murder.
Charles was killed by Sri Lankan security forces
recently. According to the charges, they had conspired at
Killinochchi, a rebel-dominated area, and at Colombo between
January 01, 2005 and August 12, 2005.
The Colombo High Court has already issued an arrest
warrant against Prabhakaran after he was convicted for the
Central Bank truck bombing in Colombo in 1996 that killed 91
people.
The court had sentenced the LTTE chief to 200 years
rigorous imprisonment in 2002 after it found him guilty on 51
counts.
The late High Court Judge Sarath Ambepitiya convicted
Prabhakaran in absentia for planning the Central Bank bombing
that also wounded 300 people.
