Amar Singh quits as chairman of UP dev council

Lucknow, May 12: A day after the defeat of the Samajwadi Party in UP assembly polls, Amar Singh and four other heads of government undertakings on Saturday resigned from their respective posts.

Amar Singh, Chairman of UP Development Council, Deputy Chairman of State Planning Commission Ram Saran Das, Chairman of the UP Agriculture Production Mandi Parishad Shivpal Singh Yadav, Chairman of UP Citizens Council Om Pal Nidar and Chairman of UP Agro Natthu Singh had resigned, an official release said.

Besides, the adviser of the higher education department Rajnikant Verma also put in his papers.

The acting Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has accepted the resignation which was submitted earlier in the day, the release added.
