Kohima, Dec 05: An Indo-Myanmar Army Car Rally will be flagged off today from New Delhi for its journey to Yangon via North East covering a distance of 8,000 km.
The rally will have 45 motorists including 12 Myanmarese Armymen, a defence release said here yesterday.
The rally is being arranged to pay homage to the Indian soldiers who laid down their lives in the eastern theatre during the Second World War and were laid to rest at Taukkyan War Cemetery 30 km off Yangon.
This is the largest war cemetery in Myanmar with 6374 graveyards out of which 867 remained unnamed, the release said.
The rally will arrive at Dimapur on December 10 and after night halt, it will leave for Imphal on December 11 morning, senior army officials said.
