NCW asks govt to speed up finalising sexual harassment bill
Updated on Wednesday, August 23, 2006, 00:00 IST
New Delhi, Aug 23: Unhappy over the delay in enactment of a law against sexual harassment at the workplace, the National Commission for Women yesterday asked the government to hasten the process of finalising the bill for the proposed legislation.

"NCW has framed a bill against sexual harassment at the workplace and it has been sent to the government. The bill should have been tabled in the ongoing session of Parliament," NCW Chairperson Girija Vyas told reporters here.

"We hope the bill will be presented in the next session of Parliament," she added.

Vyas said the bill for a first-ever law in the country against sexual harassment at the workplace was with the Union Law Ministry at present.

"The law should be brought as soon as possible," she said.
