300-yr-old manuscripts found

Hyderabad, Mar 22: As many as 800 manuscripts including 300 on palm leaf were found today with individuals in various mandals in Ranga Reddy district during the statewide survey of manuscripts held from February 20 to 24.

Speaking to newspersons here, district coordinator of the survey Venkata Chari said the manuscripts found with various individuals in the district including a bunch of 300 year old manuscripts in 'Devanagari' scripts in Ghatkesar, 100 books in Turmamidi village and 70 manuscripts each in Shankarpalli and Vikarabad.

Stating that the survey was taken up as part of the nationwide excercise launched by the National Mission for Manuscripts (NMM) to draw a detailed list of manuscripts in the country, Chari said the manuscripts found in Turmamidi was about 'Jyothishastra' and the manuscripts found in Vikarabad and Gatkesar were on 'medicine', while other manuscripts were mostly dealing with religious works.
