Srinagar: Kashmir valley received its first
snowfall of the season in the upper reaches of Gulmarg tourist
resort and in some remote parts of north Kashmir, signalling
the arrival of winter.
Snowfall has been reported overnight in the upper
mountainous reaches of Gulmarg tourist resort, JK MeT director
Sonum Lotus said here on Sunday.

Gulmarg, where the night temperature plunged below zero
degree, received 18.8 mm rainfall. The minimum temperature
recorded in this famous skiing resort was minus one degree
Celsius, officials said.
Kashmir witnesses an extremely harsh four month winter
season beginning November when the minimum temperature across
the valley mostly remains below the freezing point.
The high hills of Kailash, Chatergali, Warwan and
Ashapati in Jammu region`s Doda and Kishtwar districts also
experienced the season`s first snowfall.
Kishtwar, Bhaderwah and Jammu towns received showers,
resulting in fall in temperature.
