J&K records 15% increase in literacy rate

J&K has recorded about 15 per cent increase in the literacy rate during the past five years, Education Minister said on Sunday.

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir has recorded about
15 per cent increase in the literacy rate during the past five
years, Education Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayed said on Sunday.

"Jammu and Kashmir has recorded about 15 per cent rise in
the literacy rate during the past five years. This has become
possible with massive expansion of educational facilities in
the state," Sayeed said at a function here.

About 15000 students from various government schools
attended the programme organised to mark the 142nd birth
anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi here.
