Kishanganj: Rail traffic through
Kishanganj district resumed Friday, two days after 19 oil
tankers of a goods train derailed and caught fire blocking
both up and down lines.

Officer S Hajong told PTI that rail traffic on the upline
began at 1 am, and on the downline at 8.30 am during the day
after the burnt oil tankers were removed by cranes and the
tracks were repaired on a war-footing.
Several trains from Guwahati, including Rajdhani
Express were reported running several hours behind their
schedule because of the incident, Railways sources said.
One person was killed and 19 oil tankers of a goods
train had derailed and caught fire between Aluabari and
Mangurjaan stations on New Jalpaiguri-Katihar section of the
Northeast Frontier Railway on Wednesday, Hajong said.
The Railways had announced compensation of Rs two lakh
to the family of the person killed in the mishap, he said.
Petroleum products worth Rs 12 crore were destroyed in
the fire, the sources added.
