Amethi, Jan 14: Rahul Gandhi has a range of qualities but he should focus on the job on hand, is what British Foreign Secretary David Miliband had to say when asked the question that has hogged media attention for years: Is Rahul worthy of being India’s PM?

Congress General Secretary and MP Rahul Gandhi and British Foreign Secretary David Miliband were on a visit to Amethi today.
“Rahul has a range of wonderful qualities. But my contention is that one should focus on the current job…” Miliband said.
Rahul told the media persons that he and Miliband have had conversations about the growth and potential of India and the latter’s Amethi visit was an extension of that.
“I have told him that there are two parts to India’s growth. I want him to see not only Bombay but also our villages. That’s why he is here,” Gandhi said. He added that he was proud of ‘this side of India.’
On the Satyam fraud, Rahul said he was not worried much.
“Our IT strength is very deep. I am not concerned in terms of a long term. But the current scene should be looked into. Guilty should be brought to book,” he said.
Earlier, Miliband had expressed his desire to see the rural developmental activities in India during a meeting with Rahul Gandhi some time ago in the United Kingdom.
Rahul had invited him to visit Amethi where several schemes pertaining to cooperatives, self-help groups and healthcare have been launched in the recent years.
Miliband arrived here on a three-day visit on Tuesday to express solidarity with India over the Mumbai terror attacks.
