Islamabad, Dec 22: Reacting to the two-day high level meet held in India on Monday to discuss on the steps taken by Pakistan against the Mumbai terror attack, distressed Pak Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said, “Pakistan defence forces and armed forces are ready to face any challenge as Pak has the full right to defend itself”.

“Pakistan Air Force has increased its vigilance,” he added further.

On the other hand an embattled Pakistan PM Yousuf Raza Gilani said, “Pakistan remains united and is ready to fight anyone to defend itself”.

By approaching a defensive stand, which Pakistan is now taking, after pressure from the international community to crack down on terror he said, "we will fight back any country’s attempt to encroach upon our rights”.

“We have support from all parties and also from those who are out of the party. All the parties have backed the Pakistan government in this tough time,” he said.

Pakistan is trying hard to show unity among its people and forces but still it seems this time India’s strong steps against terrorism has shocked Pakistan from roots.

People who are writing that in case there is war India and will Pakistan will finish. Partially this is true. Pakistan will certainly finish. India has now emerged as a superpower, and has also send a payload of metal to go around the moon. It has world`s largest population of highly skilled Englis speaking workers. Goat grazers cannot wish India away. My brothers, come to think of it, if all 1.2 Billion Indians come to the border and urinate, there will be floods in Pakistan. -Ishtiaq - Mumbai a
It is beyond my understanding that when a heated exchange is prevailing between both the countries, Channels are still even at this time are airing the performance of Pakistani entertainers in India.MEDIA SHOULD BAN ALL THIS. -UTKARSH - LUCKNOW a
I dont think war is the solution. We have been fighting a war for mare 2 decades, 75000 lives cost, economy suffering, cost of living high etc etc... Terrorism must be eliminated and the only way it can be done India & Pak should cooperate. Pak should get rid of stateless actors. If war erupts politicians will not die, its the soldiers and innocent civilians who lose their lives. At present Sri Lankan army is winning the war against LTTE terrorists and all credit for India for their fullest support. Likewise I request Pakistan to cooperate and give their fullest support to India to fight against terrorist attacks. One final word, India & Pakistan are very good friends of Sri Lanka - we DONT want both countries to fight each other. Let us all be good friends and live happily in this region. -Najeeb - Colombo a
Since 1947 Pakistan has always said ``NO`` at that time its was Jinnah and now its Zardari. They all are a bunch of jokers who are asking for unnecessary evidence. Ask them to send ISI Cheif here in India and we`ll hand over the evidence. -Sachin Bole - Mumbai a
india should be wise enough to handle the current situation and should not be staged itself as a puppet of American administration we as pakistani like indiana as our soiled brother. So indian goverment should go in depth to analyse who is behind Mumbai attacks and should work hand in hand diplomatically to coop the situation rather than such esclations. -atif saeed - pakistan a
Why an open war, the best way is to stop the flow of money to Pakistan (70% of karachi exchange is controlled by the army). Tell the US and the western gang who are keen to grab the piece of civilian nuclear trade, that it cannot take place if you are going to give money to Pakistan in any form. Tell the IMF, that any further business with them will be considered only if it puts more monetary pressure on Pakistan. Tell the whole world, that we would be thinking thrice or even more if anyone has any military co-operation with Pakistan. And most importantly ban the Chinese imports denting some money inflow. Given the economic situation the west is in, they will definetly succumb to our pressure. At the most we`ll only loose nuclear power generation (who needs it when the sun is shining all through the year in India) -xcg - Singapore a
with all due respects, but indian policticians should give responsible statements in the current situation and shouldn`t talk always about ``war``, ``attacks`` and ``all options`` we will see but in case there is actually a war it will not make much difference for us because half of pakistan is already at war, but it will start a never ending mess for india. -IHSAN - PaKISTAN a
Mr. Murtuza and Mr. H Pattar. Good observations. Right now what is happenning is the Pakistani Govt is gaining time for the terrorist to escape. Every minute passing is giving a passage to the terrorists. Good enough. But what you have mentioned that as Murtuza says, if war breaks out both the countries will vanish. Well said. They wont vanish but yes go backward and will not fall in any category. Right now India is one of the powerful countries but after the war if at all it will loose its position. And as Mr H Pattar puts it, the leaders of both countries should sit together and sort out the problem. Well said, but right now the Pakistani govt is not co-operating. Getting the Americans or other countries to make the leaders of India and Pakistan sit and talk will take a long time and in this process the real cause of this rising tension will subside. So. Nothing really is going to happen. Politicians are playing with their diplomacy and innocent people are being carried away. Wrong rumours are spreading in Pakistan that the war has started. And also wrong rumours in India that (As Pranab Mukerjee puts it) all options are open. This is just a game of politics. Nothing else. All the people killed in Mumbai will be shortly forgotten and life will continue as it was before 26/11. -Mithu Hiranand - Las Palmas, Spain a
Pakistani`s all over the world are so fed up these allegations by Indians and America that they have come to an opinion, Let there be a war and lets see who has the charachter to stand tall in adversity. LET THE WAR BEGIN -Adeel Ahmed - South Africa a
Dear Mr. Murtazaa, India has never threatened Pakistan with Nuclear Weapons. It is Pakistan which dangles this threat all the time. India has declared doctrine of no 1st use where as Pakistan`s doctrine is totally opposite. Not that we are proponents of war, but fact remains that we may loose 1 or 2 cities but for sure Pakistan will cease to exist. Look at the audacity with which these attacks were carried out! I`m in complete favor that both our countries should live in harmony and work towards betterment of it`s nationals. However, a line has to be drawn some where and Pakistan should realize that India will eventually react to this un-declared war sooner or later. India stands to gain from peace, but given what state of affairs in Pakistan will be a greater beneficiary of peace both economically and militarily. I think it is also time to call Pakistan`s bluff on the nuclear issue. Food for thought. -Sanjeev - Delhi a
