The Election Commission of India (ECI) revised the date of polling in the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha constituency (J&K). Votingis to now be held on 25th May instead of 7th May.

While addressing a public rally in Janjgir-Champa, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said, "PM Modi and his people keep saying give us 400+ majority, why? Not for the benefit of poor people, scheduled tribes or backward classes...it is to end the rights of all these communities including farmers. Their people keep saying that if they get the majority they will change the constitution.."

During a rally in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind district, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi asserted that if the BJP were to regain power at the Centre, they would "tear apart" and "throw away" the Constitution that safeguards the rights of the underprivileged including the poor, Dalits, STs, and the OBCs, reported news agency PTI.

Holding a copy of the Constitution during his address, Gandhi said that the current Lok Sabha election is not a political contest, but a battle between opposing ideologies.

The political party Janata Dal (Secular) in Karnataka acted on Tuesday by suspending Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna from his position and sending him a formal show-cause notice.  

This decision was made after multiple cases of sexual abuse had been reported against Revanna, grandson of former prime minister HD Deve Gowda. He was suspended during a meeting of the JD(S) core committee.
