Breaking: Haryana schools to resume classes with 100% capacity from December 1

New Delhi: The Haryana government on Wednesday (November 17) announced that schools will resume physical classes with 100 per cent capacity from December 1.

Haryana had reopened schools for classes 4 and 5 on September 1. For grade 9 to 12 students, the physical classes commenced from July 16, and for Classes 6 to 8 from July 23. The state government had resumed classes for 1 to 3 students from September 20.

Earlier, schools in Haryana had reopened for Classes 9 to 12 from July 16 amid decline in COVID-19 cases.

The Commission for Air Quality Management in the NCR and Adjoining Areas on Tuesday convened a meeting with the Centre, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan, and emerged with a slew of emergency steps to tackle air pollution. 

In the Supreme Court hearing on Wednesday, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre, proposed steps to deal with air pollution including banning entry of all trucks in the national capital except vehicles carrying essential goods, shutting of schools and 50 per cent attendance in offices of GNCTD to reduce air pollution in Delhi-NCR.

Meanwhile, Haryana reported 15 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the caseload to 7,71,463, according to the Health Department's bulletin on Tuesday. With no coronavirus-related death reported in the last 24 hours, the death toll remained unchanged at 10,051. Presently, there are 123 active COVID-19 cases in the state.
