Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) expressway could be scrapped

FARIDABAD: The Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) expressway project, which has seen no progress over the past two years even after spending Rs. 129 crore, could be scrapped, a media report said on Thursday.

The project has been in the making for the past three decades but it still remained incomplete. However, about 70% of the Noida stretch has been built.

According to the Times of India, the Centre has told the Noida authorities that since it's already building the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE), which is parallel to the FNG, there's no need for the FNG anymore.

The FNG was planned in 1989 but the actual work on the project only started in 1993.

In November 2015, the UP government had given a no-objection to the Centre to grant it a national highway (NH) status.
