The missing stars….

As England recovers from the euphoria of the All English Final in the Champions League final, and as the world raises a toast to, arguably, two of the world’s most influential clubs, both hailing from England, a delicious irony remains hard be missed. The likes of Rooney, Ferdinard, Carrick, Scholes, Terry, Lampard, who, were till a fortnight back talk of the footballing world, would not be their when Europe’s best convene in Austria and Switzerland next month for the Euro Cup.

While British clubs continue to dominate, having participated in the finals of the previous three editions of Champions League, why with such a strong background, why is it that the English national team comes a cropper on the international stage?

Why is a midfield, literally spoilt for choices on paper, with iconic names like David Beckham, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes and young guns like Carrick and Shaun Philips, struggle to display creativity on world stage?

A strike force comprising Rooney, Owen, Peter Crouch fail to find the net when it counts?

A defence with stalwarts like Ferdinard, Terry, Neville to name a few in its ranks, wilt under pressure?

Is it the lack of good local talent? Or is it the case of ‘Big names failing to click together? Or maybe it’s just a question of plain nerves. Perhaps the blame lies with the media. The have created a false hype and these players are plainly ‘over-rated’. Faced with unrealistic expectations, they fail to deliver.

We at Zee News would like to ask you, our esteemed audience, what you think, is the chief reason behind such contrasting performances between the British clubs and the national team.
