'Everest' director recalls tough shoot

New York: The director of Jake Gyllenhaal's mountain movie "Everest," Baltasar Kormakur, says the cast braved avalanches, the world?s most dangerous airport and frozen nostrils to shoot the film about a doomed 1996 climbing expedition.

The film also stars Keira Knightley, Sam Worthington, Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes and Robin Wright, reported New York Post.

"We were at the most dangerous airport in the world in Nepal. A helicopter crashed while we were there," recalled Kormakur.

"We had our film equipment on yaks and donkeys and helicopters dropping off (supplies) like in Vietnam... There was more snow than in the last 100 years. We lost sets under avalanches. In one dramatic scene, Gyllenhaal's nostrils were frozen, his eyelids were frozen," he added.
