Mumbai, Nov 14: Vinay Pathak’s intensely superlative ‘Dasvidaniya’, which released all over this Friday, has come out as a brilliant portrayal of love and emotion. The story of ‘Dasvidaniya’, which means good-bye in Russian, is symbolic of all those who have always wanted to do a lot of things but have been keeping them on hold.

Directed by debutant filmmaker Shashant Shah, ‘Dasvidaniya’ is the story of an ordinary man, whose life revolves around making lists. But as he comes face to face with the fact that his life will end in three months, he makes his final list, a list of ten things to do before he dies.

The story revolves around a shy and quiet guy, Amar Kaul (Vinay Pathak), who lives a dull and mundane life in the city and is almost non-existent to people around him. It is his obsession for making his daily to-do list every morning that keeps him motivated to look forward to another day in his life. And like most to-do lists, his lists also comprise the most boring tasks like getting the geyser repaired and buying batteries.

And one day his doctor tells him that he will die within three months. That very moment he realises that there are so many things that he has always wanted to do, but could never achieve them, for whatever reason. Then begins the journey of a lifetime for Amar, where he sets out to write his final to-do list. He lists down 10 things he has to do before he dies and he feels the list would make his life worthy, before it actually ends.

Amar's first desire is indeed a common man’s desire whereby he decides to own a car. Then wishes to settle scores with his boss Dasgupta (Saurabh Shukla). And he strolls through the last three months of his life, he slowly builds his courage to strengthen existing ties and rebuild relationships, which had previously soured over trivial issues.

He manages to build the courage to go down memory lane and find Neha (Neha Dhupia), the only love of his life. And even though circumstances have changed now, he speaks his heart out to tell her that he has always been in love with her. The scene can be called the most emotional moment of the film.

‘Dasvidaniya-The Best Goodbye Ever’ boasts of a fabulous script, combined with Vinay Pathak’s unbeatably brilliant performance, and some superbly good performances by the entire gang including Ranvir Shorey, Neha Dhupia, Rajat Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla.

On the whole, ‘Dasvidaniya’ has emerged as a big contribution to some special films that have been made and appreciated of late, to brim up the face of Bollywood.

Rating: Three cheers for this one!
