Andhra strong room key lost, officials break in for EVM

Hyderabad, May 16: Election officials in Andhra Pradesh had to break open the door of a strong room containing the electronic voting machines (EVMs) as the key went missing Saturday morning.
As the officials reached the strong room in Kamareddy in Nizamabad district to break open the seal and take out EVMs, they were surprised to learn that the key was missing.

They got the approval of senior poll authorities to break open the door to take out EVMs for counting of votes cast for the Lok Sabha polls.

In Bheemavarm in West Godavari district, the counting was delayed as the counting personnel refused to attend the duties to protest lack of proper facilities at the counting centres.

In Kakinada and Kurnool, the personnel had to sit out for some time as arrangements were incomplete for counting at the two centres.
