California, Dec 10: The brother of actor Mark Ruffalo has died a week after he was shot in the head, police said Tuesday.Scott Ruffalo, 39, died late Monday night at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills Police Sgt. Renato Moreno said.
Authorities continued to investigate the role of a woman suspected of being involved in the shooting. Shaha Mishaal Adham, 26, turned herself in to police Monday after authorities issued a warrant for her arrest on an attempted murder charge.
Her initial court appearance is scheduled Wednesday.
Police have declined to discuss a motive for the shooting or possible evidence against Adham, who is being held without bail.
Scott Ruffalo, a hairstylist, was found with a gunshot wound to the head in Beverly Hills on Dec 1.
His family released a statement Tuesday evening to thank supporters and announce the creation of a fund in his honor.
"Mark Ruffalo and his family deeply appreciate the outpouring of prayers and support during this most difficult time of the passing of Scott Ruffalo, beloved son, brother and husband," the statement read.
The family said the funeral service would be private.
Another man wanted for questioning, Brian B Scofield, also turned himself in to police on Monday and was released. Police have not said whether he is still considered a suspect.
Mark Ruffalo, 41, has appeared in films such as "Zodiac," "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," and this year`s "Blindness."
