Strike terror at the root

A single act of terrorism is a war against the entire humanity. And the world has witnessed a multitude of such brutal attacks.

26/11 was one such assault which struck a part of the globe called India. The target within was a carefully chosen one – India’s financial capital Mumbai. This was not the first time that terrorists had struck in the city. The most gruesome reminder before last year’s attack were the serial blasts in 1993 and train bombings in 2006.

When extremists strike an area – no matter how big or small, it becomes a site of bloody carnage. People who are witness to such acts get shattered while looking at the bodies strewn all around. Even innocent children become victims of such attacks many a time. And these malevolent are so mighty that they can even destabilise a young and sensitive mind.

We must remember while taking stock of such events that while the dead have gone, the pain that has to be undergone is by those who have sustained irreversible injuries and who have lost their loved ones to a cruel yet avoidable situation.

The tyranny that made baby Moshe an orphan and turned ex-ATS chief Hemant Karkare’s wife into a widow are only a couple of examples.

Yet these two instances are enough to gain an insightful understanding into the consequences of any terror attack.

It is vital to observe that when one terrorist kills a man, it may flow naturally for the kith and kin of that man to pick up the gun. The bullet that is fired against fundamentalism then flies randomly and starts hitting the innocent. Hence, one militant creates another, and an endless cycle could start.

The issue of terrorism needs to be examined more as a subject in itself by the media and educational institutions. It may take generations for the wipe-out to be complete, yet the initiation needs to be made from the power of the written and the spoken words.

Last year’s Mumbai attacks have left behind bitter memories. They spread an inevitable sense of panic across India.

Intelligence inputs being received talk of another terror threat, which looms large ahead of the first anniversary of the worst attack on our national sovereignty.

The question that keeps coming to my mind is, “What is the reason that our intelligence fails despite receiving information in advance?”

The answer too strikes, “Because information gathering needs to be more spread out and efficient.”

So, along with having meetings to assess how well-prepared we are in terms of security, it is important to revamp our intelligence apparatus.

Human life is very precious. It must be preserved at all costs.

Like there are no born criminals, no one is a terrorist from birth. We all begin our lives as innocent human beings. But down the line some of us go astray. Sadly, the impact is felt on all of us in some form or the other. Therefore, only by beginning from first exploring the circumstances under which a man becomes a terrorist can we hope to uproot terrorism.

The war on terror launched by us is just a temporary measure. It has not succeeded in protecting us so far as the militants keep targeting the international community. Besides, any war in which even one innocent man dies is nothing short of terrorism.

To take the battle to the next level, let’s try to understand the system which begets terrorism to the circumstances which make a person susceptible to it.

Well i believe you still havent understood what i meant to say! What has happened in the past cannot be diregarded. The entire blog was meant to written on the ground that we the people who are in delhi or in the other parts of the world come knoe about the names which media highlights,(as they have were some big names in some feild)however no one writes about the those people who died on the railway station nor on the road. My question was can we reduce those numbers who died without even knowing the reason for their death? Can we give answers to their family? If yes, then what? Because in India the number of people under the poverty line is more. Do we think about them?Did we go to them compensated for the act that has happened?God forbid if tomorrow your or my family members becomes a part of such an instance wouldnt you go & ask for the answer & compensation ?-Orpitrama Ghosh - Delhi a
We all like to dwell on the past, What do we do?Do we ever question our politicians? Are you bold enough to stand up to the muslims, Answer is no to all of them.we are not bold enough to question the government, because we have a wife children and we have to feed them, and sleep with them.Look at the muslims they look in the eyes of the hindus and dares them to fight against them, they dont care of the Indian legal system as they know that, even if they go to jail they will be nicely fed and looked after.

They are the outsiders, and still have the audacity to stand against us, Muslims15 against 75 hindus. But what The VHP does it doesnt have the guts to fight against the Muslims they remove theirfrustration on the Christians, who have shed more blood fighting against the muslims then any other minority group in India.

Well we need to be brave and stand up to them hold the politicians accoutablity for the carnage not the Police They just follow orders.
Look at any terrorist acts carried out, the police catch them but the politicians release the and our legal system still the Randi of british system still follows it,None of the laws are indian made all copied.

That is why agencies like the DRDO work like shit, because there is no accountability, that is why they take 20 years to build a missile which still doesnt work, 10 years to build a battle tank worse than a toy, useless.
We need to hold people accountable for the work they do and make them pay for it only then we will be able to progress and protect ourselves.-Navin - belgaum a
I am feeling u are ignorant. U have not written new about terrorism. The whole world knows and America ,Israel, UK and Indian intelligent agencies informed to Gov.of India that new big attack can be in important cities in India Delhi Mumbai, Gujarat
I will ask you one simple Question what govt. Of India did not know terriers attack. It is not new attack. We have seen in AKSHAR DHAM TEMPLE ATTACK, PARLIAMENT ATTACK, RAGHUNATH TEMPLE ATTACK, KASHI TEMPLE ATTACK,
It is new and devolved model of terror and failure of Indian govt. And Indian securities preparation. If Indian govt. will repeat shameless past . Now Indian govt. Is not serious and not doing proper preparation . So Indian govt. Should send some security officer to Israel or America for study about quick control of terror attack . otherwise We will see big terror attack than Mmumbai Attack in future .

I agree to the point that Asish highlighted! now all that we can do is PRAY.its so sad that we are still discussing about the incident and not looking on the fact that apart from the officers, the poor people who died in that incident we dont have any concrete report that whether they received a complete support from the government or not.Surprisingly there is no preparation for safety for future in a place like Delhi(as everyone knows that this place is hub of terrorism).they gets stoger when an incident takes place, but as the days pass by no one bothers to keep up the same effort neither the police nor the government.I as individual think ther is always a loop hole kept on security check which are insigated by the government. If this goes on more disastress pictures are yet to come in India``s history.-Orpitrama Ghosh - Delhi a
You seem to be very ignorant, you have written nothing new, the whole world knows that. Seems that you don`t have anything to do hence you wrote this blog. I will ask you one simple question, whenever the police or the ATS have tried to combat terrorism, the press, the muslim organizations, the human rights organizations, the amnesty international have raised hue and cry. ATS Chief Hemant Karkare found himself engulfed in a conspiracy led my some corrupt politicians in the Malegaon Blast Case and wanted to quit the police service as his wife said. But the fate took his life in the Mumbai Attacks. Our system, press, politics have become so corrupt that the nations interest always take a back seat. Eshrat Jehan case of Gujarat, where the teenagers were planning to kill the Gujarat CM, and were shot down by the Gujarat Police, now those police officers are being investigated for committing crimes. In such a state we can never dream of a terror free state, the muslims are indignant and always blame the indian police, they always say we are the victims of hindu police officers and hindu oraganizations. The Batla House Encounter in Delhi where an honest police officer was killed by a terrorist, that encounter was name fake by the muslim organizations, what a pity. after a thorough investigation that encounter was declared real, if every encounter has to go through such prolonged investigations we would never be able to kill terrorism. Strike at the root of terrorism huh? do u even know the implications of such an act? This will plunge india in a major war against pakistan, which will be helped by the US and CHina. Moreover we have so many traitors at home that we will never be able to win any war. My advice to you: Pray to God that in the next terrorist attack on India you or any of your family member does not get killed, thats what we all are doing Pray. The attack is impending since long, its close by-Ashish - Pune a
