Shah Rukh Khan asserts that Islam does not support terrorism

Kuala Lumpur, Dec 06: Bollywood icon Shahrukh Khan said his upcoming movie 'My name is Khan' will deal with the ordeals faced by ordinary Muslims in a world that increasingly associates Islam with terrorism.

Khan, who was conferred Malaysian title "Datuk" in Malacca this morning, said shooting for the movie, which will help clear the misperception that all Muslims are terrorists, is to begin later this month in Los Angeles.

"The movie is about a Muslim person's strife to tell people that 'my name is Khan but I am not a terrorist'," he told reporters in Malacca.

Islam does not in any way tell you to be violent, he said, adding it does not support terrorism.

"I think the whole concept of jihad, the whole concept of warring needs to be explained as Allah meant it to be in the Quran," Khan said.

"I don't make such films but my director, Karan Johar, feels that we ought to."

Khan said Malacca was a beautiful city and agreed to assist the state in developing the local film industry. He suggested that the state should set up a one or two floor studio and labs to entice movie makers to come and shoot there.

The superstar said he would come to Malacca later next year to shoot a movie there.

"There is a film I am planning some time in August and September and will send a team down to look around," he told a press conference in Malacca after receiving his title from governor Mohd Khalil Yaakob at a ceremony held in Ayer Keroh.

The tentative title for the proposed movie is 'Happy New Year', he added.

On how he felt about his 'Datukship', the actor said that it was an honour not only for him but also for all actors from India.

Islam does not support terrorism or order to kill innocent lives. There is no verse in the qur`an that states that. Get your facts right before posting a totally wrong perception of islam here. Islam never stops people from getting higher education either. -mzi786 - uk

I do not know about which islam some ignorats are talking about who are saying islam allows to kill innocents. Always keep in your mind not only islam but all the religion in this world are based on Peace. It is very clear by these words of Holy quran: Whosoever kills an innocent human being, it shall be as if he has killed all mankind, and whosoever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind. (5:32) and when any group or indivodual acts goes against teachings of holy quran and declare his war as a jihad in in fact a hypocrite, which is also explaine in Holy quran like this.. Islam means submission, not peace. All mulsims and non-muslims should read the quran,the hadiths and sunna to understand islam and there are many online english translations written by mulsims. Muslims are born with narrow mindedness. The world is encouraging them to take off their burkhas and see the light. Mr Mohammed the Gr8 prphet has left them in the dark for so many light years. But sometimes they just dont heed. So then comes Uncle SAM who has to regularly give them the light with his high intensity noisy and destructive ammo. Mr SAM has always had a policy of keepin the muslim nations in stoneage. Because thats safer for the world. Cause if the muslim nations have the nukes theyre gonna go berserk. The best solution will be to compulsarily make our muslim brothren get educated. Nearly all of them are early dropouts and end up being petty businessmen or if not petty theives. Remember, only education can change them. The whole of the muslim world still lives in the 8th Century thats because the Kuran forbades them to move forward. That why they behave like stone age ppl. To all those posted about Muslim being bad people. I don`t agree. I think it`s not the people, it`s the religion. Who is bad ? Alcoholic or the Alcohol ? I have friends who are Muslims and they are as gentlemen as others. I am proud of them. But that`s not what Mr Shah Rukh Khan has stated. What qualification does Mr Shah Rukh Khan have to comment that Islam does not preach terrorism ? For every such hollow statements, i will pull verses from Quran that says non-believers, idolaters are to be converted by force, terrorized etc etc..... The preachings of Islam are not compatible with democratic systems of governance. Democratic system believes in diversity. That`s one of the main reasons why most of the Islamic countries are not democratic and why Muslims feel uncomfortable in a democratic system as a minority. Regarding the 800 year rule of India by Muslims, you can bury the history but it`s been replete with forced conversions, slaughter, destruction of art and culture. Just look at what India was before Muslims came ! I enjoy Mr SRK`s movies and my only advise to him would be to stick to acting. Mr.Khan, Tellme is there any parallel Kuran is being taught to Islamic youth? If no, Then why only Islamic youth becomes terrorists. Islam does`nt teach or approve terrorism has become an old song. How Other religion people are treated in islamic dominated countries is known to you and all.But a muslim is treated equal i they project sense of eqality in terms of religion.Presiden,politicians,filom heroes and celebrities, cricket captai,can be in India but not other way in Islamic country. Hi, All educated people who have friends who are Muslims know that they are harmless and cannot think that they would ghastly things like killing innocent people...We all know that Muslims ruled India for 800 years and never divided people but became one of them..there were Commanders who were Non-Muslims and Muslim commanders in a Non muslim kingdom...they beutified the country, However when the Britishers came to India to Business they Captured the country and all Indians( Muslims and Hindus ) fought for freedom but at the END the BRITISHERS were successfull in Dividing the people in the name of releigion and even till date Politicians are using this formula to rule the country, I strongly feel that the day when we stop looking at people as Muslims, Christians, hindus ..etc...then issue will be resolved..The day when we start looking at people as Indians all fighting will stop... We all know around the world that when we travel and get stuck as the lone person we look for another Indian irrespective of his/her religion - why ? when we give alms to poor we don`t see which releigion he / she belongs too - thankfully...Let us all stop VOTING those politicians who are trying to divide us in the name of relegion...and lets have an environment of PEACE... -syed - bangalore
