Jaipur, Dec 12: Despite the Congress falling short
of five MLAs to get an absolute majority in the Rajasthan
Assembly, Chief Minister designate Ashok Gehlot on Friday said he
would strive to provide a stable government in the state.
"It is a challenging mandate, eleven Independents are
supporting us...we will also ask BSP and CPI (M) MLAs to
cooperate and enable us to provide stable government", Gehlot
told media persons at his residence in Jaipur.
Eleven independents have given their unconditional
support to the Congress which emerged as the single largest
party with 96 MLAs.
Asked about the cabinet formation, Gehlot said the
process was underway and final list of ministers to be
inducted would be Okayed by the party high-command.
On liquor tragedy, Gehlot said his government would try
to ban the illegal sale of liquor specially hooch that claimed
scores of lives in last five years.
Fifty-seven-year-old Gehlot will be sworn-in as the Chief
Minister of Rajasthan tomorrow. He would be administered the
oath of office and secrecy by Rajasthan Governor S K Singh at
a function in Raj Bhavan.
After Congress Chief Ministers Mohanlal Sukhadia,
Barkuttlah Khan, Haridev Joshi, Shiv Charan Mathur, and BJP`s
B S Shekhawat (former Vice-President), Gehlot would be the
sixth CM who will undertake the second stint as CM.
