In the elections in Rajasthan, as in any other elections, some constituencies would play a key role. These would be the ones from which heavyweight leaders from the Congress and BJP, the two main parties, would contest. Here is a run down of some of them.
Vasundhara Raje Scindia:
With Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi declaring that the Rajasthan Chief Minister would contest from Pirava, apart from her Jhalarapatan constituency, it has become a constituency to watch out for. The Rajasthan BJP has given out the explanation that Raje’s contesting the second seat would have a ‘beneficial effect’ on neighboring constituencies.
Ashok Gehlot: Former chief minister and Congress hopeful Ashok Gehlot would most likely contest from his constituency of Sardarpura in Jodhpur, which is the veteran leader’s home turf. Gehlot is one of the strongest contenders for the Congress’ chief ministerial slot which make the result of his constituency a much watched one.
Girija Vyas: Congress leader Girija Vyas is to contest elections from the Udaipur constituency, a place from where she has won previously too. This is another key constituency as Vyas is one of the few high profile leaders from the state.
Sachin Pilot: The young leader from Congress got some prominence during the Gujjar agitation as his constituency was in one of the affected areas. As a rising Congress leader, his constituency would be another one which would be closely watched.
