Chonmipem Horam
The 40-member Mizoram assembly elections will go to poll on December 2. The ruling party Mizo National Front would contest 37 seats, Mizoram Congress Party (MCP) 2 seats on MNF ticket and one from Mara Democratic Front (MDF). A total of 205 candidates are in the tussle for this election out of which 9 are women candidates.
In 2003 Assembly elections, the ruling MNF secured 21 seats and Congress 12, while 7 went to smaller parties.

Champhai south
Chief Minister Zoramthanga, chief of ruling party Mizo National Front is contesting from Champhai south constituency. A winner for the past four consecutive terms, he is determined to hold on this seat. Against him is H Lalhmingthangi, a women candidate of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) as his opponent.
H Lalhmingthangi, a candidate from Zoram National Party, had resigned as secretary for woman relations at Presbyterian Women Fellowship office in Shillong. Stating herself as newborn in politics, Lalhmingthangi said she had a `divine calling` to join politics to rescue the deteriorating Mizoram. The state`s largest women body `Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl` urges women voters to caste their votes in her favour.
Champhai north
Perhaps uncertain of his victory from Champhai south, Chief Minister Zoramthanga is also contesting form Champhai north. In his opposition stand ex-Minister Zosiama Pachuau of UDA and former student leader Lalmachhuana Zofa.
Tuipui East
Former Chief Minister and main opposition Congress leader Lal Thanhawla will clash with first time contestant R Lalhnuna, General Secretary of ruling Mizo National Front. With two years experience of serving as CM, he is confident to strike back again.
Aizawl West-II
Brig T. Sailo, former CM and United DemocraticAlliance`s (UDA) chief ministerial candidate is pitted against youth leader Lalruatkima from Aizawl West-II.
