New Delhi, Dec 08: Mayawati-led BSP and INLD on Monday opened their accounts in the Delhi assembly polls by bagging one and two seats respectively in the keenly-fought elections. Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) nominee and sitting councillor Bharat Singh defeated his nearest rival Kanwar Singh Yadav from Congress by a margin of 12,453 votes in Najafgarh seat.

The BSP, which hoped that its social engineering formula will reap dividends in the polls, bagged two seats out of the 70 it contested.

Party nominee Surinder Kumar defeated his closest rival Congress`s Balzor Singh by 3,039 votes in Gokalpur seat of North-East Delhi.

The BSP also bagged the Badarpur seat with party candidate Ram Singh Netaji getting 43,416 votes as against Congress candidate Rambir Singh Bidhuri`s 40,111 votes.
